Hello,
I found this experience very relaxing and beneficial. The lady’s voice was pleasant and she spoke
clearly and was easy to understand. The
lady’s directions were easy to follow. The
crashing waves was kind of relaxing, but I also found them kind of annoying
after a while. I will say that my mind
kind of wandered away from time to time.
I found myself thinking of other things.
I think there was a little much time between one set of directions to the
next. I know this was done on purpose,
but like I said my mind tended to wander.
I would recommend that others try this exercise, but I know that this
type of relaxation is not for everyone.
I am always open to new things and new ideas so I would suggest that
others try this and if it isnt’ for them that is fine they can perhaps find
another method that works for them.
The concept of “mental workout” is making your mind work by
putting it through exercises to open and stretch the mind beyond its current
capacity. Mental workouts help us concentrate and help
us rid ourselves of egoism, and achieve higher goals, which opens our minds to
the truth and wisdom of our human existence.
Mental workouts help us get on the path to Human Flourishing.
Howdy Kelly!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree the woman's voice was pleasant to listen to. I once had a professor that probably did a bang up job teaching the course, but I could not stand to listen to their voice - I always felt bad, but I just didn't like listening and therefore I did not get all that I cold out of it.
What worked better for me was memorizing most of the meditation dialogue and speeding it up for myself while in silence. I too thought it was drawn out and I wanted to spend more time on certain areas and almost omit others. When I first started any kind of meditation, only a few months back, it worked to "om" my way to halt the chatter. Now I can concentrate on the breath at the end of the nostrils. I get easily distracted during prayer also so I never pray aloud. I just talk to God throughout the day. He understands my mind!
ReplyDeleteHello Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you the waves were relaxing at first and there was a lot of time in between directions but all in all I enjoyed the exercise. It came at the perfect time for me. I found it beneficial in forgiving someone I was upset with and it made me feel a lot better. Normally, I probably would have held on to my anger or I would have reacted differently but I felt a sense of calm after this exercise...maybe it was the waves or the music. I don't know but it worked for me. Thanks for the great post.
